This man didn’t do so bad for himself after leaving Fort Del Pilar because he concluded a distinguished career in the Philippine Navy with the rank of commodore—equivalent to a brigadier general in the army and air force. Immediately after he died on Monday morning after an almost-yearlong battle with lung cancer, most news outlets once again trumpeted the canard that Biazon was the goat of his class. This decades-old fake news refuses to die. Let’s not allow this lie to lie with him at Libingan ng mga Bayani, where he will be laid to rest on Tuesday.
