Ronnie and Dorothy McCormick, of Yarrow Drive, met in their teens at a dance hall in the town.They had a reception at home in Bank Street followed by a sing-song across the road in the Stag pub.
Ronnie, 83, worked for most of his life at Penman Engineering at Heathhall, where he finished as a foreman. He took redundancy from the firm and he and Dorothy had a chip shop and a greengrocers in Market Square before running a B&B in Queen Street.And they have 10 grand-children and eight great grand-children.
Ronnie and Dorothy, whose maiden name was Roan, received a card of congratulations on their blue sapphire anniversary from King Charles III and Queen Camilla.The best man was the late Sammy Kelly.
