Manchester United fan Rory McIlroy will be going for the elusive golfing major that has evaded his grasp so far when he tees off at The Masters on Thursday.
This is yet to come to fruition with Sir Jim Ratcliffe completing his 25% stake investment earlier this year, but McIlroy has nevertheless planted a seed. In November, McIlroy announced he was stepping down from the PGA Tour board. When does McIlroy tee off? The 2024 Masters runs from Thursday, April 11 to Sunday, April 14. The start of the first round has been delayed due to thunderstorms in Georgia, and all current tee times are subject to at least a one-hour delay.
What has he said about Manchester United? McIlroy is a lifelong United fan and wile appearing on the Stick to Football podcast recounted the time Roy Keane rejected his request for an autograph as a youngster. Three months earlier, he left the door open for potential investment in United alongside Ratcliffe.
