The attacker is a promising talent but he could leave Ibrox on a temporary basis.

The Northern Irish under-21 is keen to go out and aid his development with more first-team exposure. The 20-year-old has impressed in Rangers’ recent B team friendlies so far this season but it is felt he would benefit from a loan. There was strong interest in McCausland from England and Scotland in the last window but the Light Blues were reluctant to let him go out.

Now several other Scottish Championship and top League One sides are keen on landing the winger before the domestic loan mark closes. McCausland is open to a loan because he also believes it would put him in a stronger position to push for a top team berth on his return to Rangers. The Irishman is also keen to strengthen his place in the Northern Irish under-21 team under new boss Tommy Wright.

The former St Johnstone boss has taken up the post and McCausland wants to be a big part of his plans. McCausland trained with the full Northern Irish squad over the summer after he impressed boss Michael O’Neill, who had stepped in to fill the under-21 coaching void in the short-term.
