The NHS is rolling out routine testing for life-threatening hepatitis B and C in a pioneering scheme to detect and treat blood-borne illnesses. All patients arriving at the accident and emergency department of Northern General Hospital in Sheffield will automatically be tested for these diseases, unless they opt out.
