The third in the city
A new Roxy Leisure venue could be opening in Nottingham. The city centre is already home to two Roxy Ball Rooms, in Thurland Steet and the Cornerhouse.
This would be the city's first under the Roxy Lanes brand, which allows under 18s until 5pm when supervised by an adult. Similar sites in cities including Bristol, Leeds and Cardiff have a bowling alley and other games such as American pool, air hockey shuffleboard, darts and arcade games. The location for the new site is in Bottle Lane, Nottingham. A licensing application has been submitted to Nottingham City Council by Roxy Leisure to allow the sale of alcohol to over 18s.The licence, which would be for seven days a week until 1am, is for a 15,000 sq ft site in The Pod, a development on the corner of Bottle Lane and Fletcher Gate, which is also home to Tesco Express, the Ibis Hotel and catering equipment store Nisbets.
There are currently six Roxy Lanes venues across the UK. As well as games, they serve food such as pizzas, hot dogs and fries. Cocktails include Pingstar Spritz, Raspberry Beret and Mardy Bum. A spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that Roxy Leisure has submitted a planning application for a new Roxy Lanes site in Nottingham. The application is part of their exciting long-term plans, however, we do not have any further information at this time."
