The incident occurred moments after the full time whistle with Keane standing by the side of the pitch with the rest of Sky Sport s’ broadcast team.
Another member of security then told the group of Ipswich fans to ‘calm down’. Keane was appointed as Ipswich manager in April 2009 but lasted just 20 months in charge before he was sacked in January 2011. In Keane’s only full season at Ipswich the team finished 15th in the 2009/10 campaign, Keane left the club three points above the Championship relegation zone. ‘I don’t think I’m a bad manager, but at Ipswich I managed badly,’ Keane wrote in his autobiography The Second Half.
