Some dog owners give their four-legged friends ice cubes when it's scorching hot outside – and the RSPCA revealed whether or not this is actually a good idea
The UK is preparing for "three to four day" hot spell – with temperatures set to "skyrocket" above 30C in the coming days.
And it's not just humans that are impacted by the yellow weather warning – as our four-legged friends may also suffer in the heat. Unlike humans, dogs can't sweat through their skin. Some owners have also admitted to feeding their pets ice cubes – but not everybody is convinced by this idea. One Reddit user said: "I feed ice cubes to my dog all the time. I freeze stock in old yogurt/ice cream tubs or freeze his kibble with some water. We have no aircon and live in the subtropics. Go crazy with the ice cubes!" While another added: "A vet friend told me that giving my dog ice cubes will kill him.
