Moyes has remained tight lipped on his future but his West Ham exit is looking increasingly likely with Sporting boss on Hammers' radar.
Ruben Amorim is West Ham's No. 1 choice to succeed David Moyes should the Scot depart at the end of the season.
Moyes is out of contract in the summer and has refused to be drawn on whether he would be offered an extended deal and if he would sign one. That now looks increasingly unlikely after the weekend's 5-2 drubbing by Crystal Palace. Hammers fans are split over Moyes, who delivered the Europa Conference League last season and has the London club in the hunt for European qualification.
But punters are becoming fed up with the style of football and many feel the time has come for a change. Should that be the case, then Sporting boss Amorim is the West Ham hierarchy's preferred choice to take over. The Portuguese has been heavily linked with Liverpool in the wake of Jurgen Klopp announcing his departure in the summer, but the Athletic reports that is now unlikely and West Ham's interest is strong.
Former Spain, Real Madrid and Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui is also on their radar. However, Amorim holds more appeal although it remains to be seen whether the 39-year-old has more preferred options, although it's claimed a switch to West Ham would hold some appeal. Amorim is on course to deliver the Liga Portugal title in Lisbon. Sorting lead city rivals Benfica by ten points at the top with six matches left to play. Given the interest that is mounting, it looks likely that lifting the title could be one of his last acts in charge, with a Portuguese Cup Final clash against Porto to come after the league season is wrapped up.
