Giuliani's creditors signal they will 'pursue claims against the recipients' if 21 payment disputes are not resolved.
Rudy Giuliani must return 'no less than 21 unauthorized' payments today, May 13, his creditors have warned in bankruptcy court papers. The former New York City mayor and Donald Trump's ex-lawyer filed for bankruptcy in federal court a week after being ordered to pay $150 million to two former Georgia election officials for defamation. Giuliani had falsely accused the two of committing election fraud while counting ballots in Fulton County to help Joe Biden become president in 2020.
The court filing states that the committee anticipates seeking standing on behalf of Giuliani's estate should he fail to return the improper payments 'to pursue claims against the recipients of such transfers and/or the entities for whose benefit such transfers were made' as well as 'additional relief from this court.'Giuliani's adviser, Ted Goodman, previously told Newsweek that the creditors were part of a 'smear campaign' against his client.
