'Two months after being hospitalised with the virus, I’m still suffering with after-effects. I can’t describe how hideous Coronavirus made me feel. It was like being hit by a bus and far worse than any other virus I’ve suffered before.'

18 May 2020‘Medical professionals make the worst kind of patients and I thought it was a little bit OTT, especially as I only live a couple of minutes away from the hospital. But the fact that a doctor had sent an ambulance for me made me a little nervous.

‘At A&E, I began to feel worse. My blood pressure was dropping to the point where the machines weren’t even picking up a reading. One of the nurses tried to take it manually but still couldn’t read it. When he did manage to get a reading it was 70/30, dangerously low. That’s when I heard the word ‘gelofusine’ – a drug which helps boost blood pressure. I’ve only ever used that myself on a handful of patients who have lost a lot of blood during birth so I knew I was more sick than I realised.

‘I’m not sure how long I was in A&E before I was moved to an isolation room on the COVID ward – a very odd experience. For the first 24 hours I felt horrendous and wasn’t really aware of much apart from being monitored via a camera and machine. By 48 hours, I was recovering a little more and by 72 hours, I was able to be discharged.‘Slowly but surely, I’ve recovered I’m still not 100 per cent.

I survived Coronavirus and this is what it's really like to fight the virus... and deal with the social stigmaI survived Coronavirus and this is what it's really like to fight the virus... and deal with the social stigma‘Regarding the Rule of Six, I’ve heard people say that it’s hypocritical when we have children in school and people in pubs to put this rule into place.
