Deputy Premier Steven Miles says Annastacia Palaszczuk will lead the government to the next election – and he’s confident Labor will win.

reported senior Labor figures were convinced the premier should step down to give Labor a better chance at winning next year’s election.

The Labor government is also threatened by increasing support for the LNP, with a poll conducted for this masthead and released this month showing Opposition Leader David Crisafulli pulling ahead for the first time. “You’ve all written us off, every election cycle, but then come election time, we’ve been able to demonstrate to Queenslanders that we are the best team to serve them.”Miles said the government was working and performing well, and therefore intended to “keep the team together”.

But Miles would not be drawn on whether he would put himself forward if Palaszczuk did step down, saying that scenario was “just hypothetical”.
