Bolt was at the popular Italian restaurant to celebrate his footballer friend's birthday
Sprinting legend Usain Bolt has been snapped visiting a popular Italian restaurant in Wigan. The Olympic gold medallist posed with staff for a picture at the La Casa Astley following his meal on Wednesday .
The Jamaican superstar was at the restaurant celebrating the birthday of close friend and former Bolton Wanderers Football Club player and fellow countryman, Ricardo Gardner. Trips to the restaurant have become a habit for the former athlete, with him featuring on the food place's Instagram account multiple times this year alone.
Manager of La Casa, Pietro Garrafa, spoke to the MEN about Bolt's visit and said: "I just started a week ago but I know that quite a few celebrities come to us because our food is very authentic."I didn't take the reservation but I was shocked to see him when he came in. Everyone was asking for pictures and he and Ricardo were lovely, there was a family of Bolton fans who were dining there too and Ricardo took a picture and spoke to them.
Now-retired, the Olympic sprinter is fondly remembered for his illustrious 13 year career that saw him clinch eight-time gold medals at the Olympics, breaking the world record for the 100m and 200m events multiple times. A staunch Manchester United fan, Bolt is a familiar visitor to the city where he occasionally pops up at his favourite dining spots like the legendary Caribbean takeaway Kool Runnings in Old Trafford.
