“A Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down at low altitude while approaching the Engels military airfield in the Saratov region,” Russia’s defence ministry said.
Earlier on Monday, Roman Busargin, governor of the Saratov region, said that civil infrastructure facilities had not been damaged in the latest incident at the base, which he said the authorities were investigating. “There is absolutely no threat to residents,” Busargin said. On 5 December, unprecedented drone strikes took place on Engels and the Dyagilevo base in the Ryazan region. Russia deloyed the same claim that three soldiers had been killed and a drone shot down before it could damage any aircraft.At least four civilians have been wounded in Russian shelling of five regions in Ukraine’s southeast over the past 24 hours, according to the deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko.
