Russians have entered the outer houses of Chasiv Var and 'street fighting may begin in the near future,' says military bloggerhave reached the city of Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine, according to sources on both sides and independent conflict monitors, marking a new breakthrough after a series of gains.

“Russian troops are developing an offensive in the direction of Chasiv Yar. According to preliminary information, airborne troops managed to reach the outskirts,” the blogger posted on Friday.The Institute for the Study of War, a US military think tank, posted on Friday morning: “Russian forces conducted a roughly reinforced company-sized mechanised assault towards Chasiv Yar on 4 April and advanced up to the eastern outskirts of the settlement.

“The situation there is very difficult, the fighting continues, but they are not there,” said spokesman Andriy Zadubinnyi. “Until the acute Ukrainian deficit is addressed properly there will be reports that Russia is moving incrementally .”
