⚫ Russian forces have made gains in the town of Soledar after months of intense fighting in the area, interrupting the progress of Ukraine’s counteroffensive
, appeared to confirm Russian progress while claiming it would be of limited value and that the battle would serve Ukrainian interests elsewhere.
The British Ministry of Defence corroborated the reports, stating: “Russian and Wagner forces have made tactical advances into the small Donbas town of Soledar and are likely in control of most of the settlement.”“Wagner assault squads are fighting in the central part of Soledar, advancing rapidly towards the western outskirts,” reported popular Telegram channel Rybar.
“Our infantry is also slowly regaining the positions lost during the autumn retreat,” posted military analyst Older Eddy.
