Officers stopped a black Audi Q3 after 'spotting an issue' while driving behind it on the M8 near Govan. The car has been taken off after it was found to be badly damaged.

Officers stopped the black Audi Q3 with pictures on social media showing rust and corrosion had formed underneath the vehicle.

The car has been taken off the road, with police warning locals to have a check of the condition of their cars before setting off. A spokesperson said: "We can't stress enough the value of having a quick check of your car before setting off. "This driver didn't and Glasgow RP spotted the issue while driving behind on the M8 at Govan! Vehicle prohibited from the road."

The image of the badly damaged car was shared online by cops, and left people shocked that the car had got into the condition.Another added: "How did they even drive it?
