A public consultation on the moving of the Post Office on Rutherglen Main Street has been launched today.
The Rutherglen Post Office is set to be taken over by a local stalwart family business following a public consultation, which will see the branch move location.

Ms Akhtar, who stays in Cambuslang, said: “No one had stepped forward to make it permanent and we had premises which had been closed for a year next door. “I feel very excited and we are conducting a massive refit. It won’t just be one of these wee shops with a Post Office stuck in the corner. The place will be purpose-built with a nice flow to it.“A lot of customers had told us that there was a petition going around claiming that there wasn’t going to be a Post Office in Rutherglen, which isn’t obviously true. We are hoping to create jobs for those in the area too.
