Flights to and from the country could be delayed as areas including Alicante and Mallorca are hit by bad weather
Ryanair has issued a warning to holidaymakers heading to Spain today . The airline said that some flights to and from the country could be delayed due to thunderstorms.
It said that passengers would be notified if their flight is affected and it urged travellers to check the status of their flight before travelling to the airport. In a statement on its website, Ryanair said: “Some potential delays to/from Spain today due to thunderstorms. “Affected passengers will be notified and any passengers travelling to/from Spain today, Thursday 14 September should check their Ryanair app for flight updates before travelling to the airport.“We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by these thunderstorms which are outside of Ryanair's control and affect all airlines operating to/from Spain today, Thursday 14 September.”
Spain’s meteorological agency Aemet has issued yellow weather warnings for storms for central parts of the country on Thursday, and along the east coast, as well as the Island of Mallorca. Alicante and Valencia are among the areas impacted by the bad weather. The weather warnings have been extended on Friday to cover huge swathes of Spain with only areas in the north-west of the country unaffected. Amber weather warnings for heavy rainfall have also been issued on Friday along the east coast.For more of today's top stories, click here.
