Three Australians remain in critical condition in Bangkok, after being injured in severe turbulence on a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore on Tuesday. The Boeing 777-300ER suddenly and sharply plummeted 2000m over the span of three minutes when it hit what is believed to be an air pocket as the cabin crew were serving breakfast. The pilot requested an emergency landing at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport at 3.35pm.
“When everyone was back to their senses, I saw like a fellow sitting in front, he fell to the side of the aisle,” Bukhari said. “People were all over the place, there was blood on the ceiling. “The interior of the plan was basically broken, a lot of oxygen masks had come down as well. It was quite an intense situation. People, obviously, were bleeding with soft tissue injuries.” Bukhari said he had his seatbelt on at the time.
