The Met police are incredibly overstretched 🚔
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has pleaded with his predecessor and now PMAs the capital recorded the highest number of knife crimes in England, the Mayor of London warned Mr Johnson his pledge of 20,000 more officers over three years is not enough given the Tory party oversaw a 21,000-strong cut since 2010.
Mr Khan said that while Mr Johnson was mayor he ‘never raised council tax to pay for police’, but he had raised council tax as much as he could in his first three years so the money could be invested in policing. Mr Khan also revealed that he had written to Mr Johnson after the former mayor was elected by Conservative Party members as party leader, but that he had not yet spoken to him since he took office.
