Sainsbury’s has introduced a golden shopping hour for NHS and social care workers as supermarkets continue to grapple withThe surge in demand has left shelves across the country stripped bare, with people queuing outside stores from 5am to stockpile goods.
The golden shopping hour will be enforced on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and follows in the footsteps of several businesses offering perks and discounts to frontline staff battling the pandemic. However, some NHS staff have requested having a separate priority hour from the elderly, to reduce the risk of infecting vulnerable groups.As a NHS worker who will have regular contact with patients who have Coronavirus, Iâm trying to minimise my contact with vulnerable groups.
