NEW ORLEANS - After 13 training camp practices in Irvine, it’s time for the Saints to finally hit someone else. Saturday night, the Black and Gold travel to Arizona for a matchup with the Cardinals.We won’t know until closer to kickoff if Derek Carr will play against the Cardinals, but the Saints starting quarterback wants to get some snaps.
“Yeah, I think I would like to. I think just getting out there and just hearing Klint’s voice in the helmet calling plays, getting the substitutions in and out. I think that’d just be good for us as an offense. As the preseason goes it’s very basic stuff, very easy and simple. You don’t wanna show anything, all that kind of stuff,” said quarterback Derek Carr.
With or without Carr in the lineup, the Saints will give a lot of snaps to backup quarterbacks Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler. Right now, the battle to be behind Carr is close. The three preseason games should answer that question. New Orleans will only have six healthy wide receivers for the contest. Camp standout Mason Tipton will not play after suffering a hamstring injury. Samson Nacua will get an opportunity to shine in his place.
