The 35-year-old man admitted two sexual assault charges and has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years
The 35-year-old man admitted two sexual assault charges and has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years A Salford man has been jailed after sexually assaulting two women during separate incidents in Warrington.
Raigal Ahmed, 35, was handed a 14-month jail sentence at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday 9 June after previously admitting two counts of sexual assault. He was not found guilty of assault by beating. The first offence happened on 19 July 2024 when Ahmad approached a 41-year-old woman in a nightclub and began touching her inappropriately without her consent.
The second incident occurred on 26 January 2025 at a bar, where Ahmad was seen loitering outside and making advances towards a group of women. Despite the group repeatedly telling him to leave them alone, Ahmad followed them to a nearby takeaway. Once inside, he touched the bottom of a 36-year-old woman. The situation soon escalated into a physical confrontation, prompting police to attend the scene.
Ahmad was arrested whilst attempting to leave in a taxi. During police interviews, Ahmad denied following the women, claiming it was merely a coincidence that he was at both the bar and the takeaway.
However, he admitted touching the 36-year-old woman, stating that they had been joking together while ordering food and that he had playfully tapped her thigh. Although initially pleading not guilty, the 35-year-old changed his plea to guilty in May 2026.
In addition to his prison sentence, Ahmad has been ordered to remain on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and is subject to a five year Restraining Order against both victims. Detective Constable Phillip Jackson, of CID Reactive North, said: “It is a basic human decency that when someone asks to be left alone and does not give you their consent to touch them, you respect their needs.
“Raigal Ahmad, however, ignored this and repeatedly made unwanted, predatory, advances towards two women who were simply wanting to enjoy a night out with friends. “We treat all instances of sexual assault with the utmost seriousness, placing the needs and wellbeing of victims at the centre of all investigations. “Anyone who comes to us with concerns such as serious as those exhibited above will be listened to and treated with respect.
