He believes Forshaw will be 'tremendously important'

Sam Allardyce believes that long-serving midfielder Adam Forshaw will be 'tremendously important' to any hopes that Leeds United have of avoiding relegation after he returned to the starting line-up for the 2-1 defeat by Manchester City.

While Ilkay Gundogan's impressive first-half brace was enough for Pep Guardiola's men to see off United, there were positive elements of performance to encourage the visiting fans. Rodrigo's sharp finish halved the defect with five minutes to play.

"[Forshaw will be] Tremendously important because it's been pointed out to me by coaches, by a lot of the staff at the football club that the midfield has been slightly weak in terms of particularly its out-of-possession work," Allardyce explained. That being said, however, the 68-year-old suggested that changes could be made when Newcastle visit Elland Road next weekend.
