Sam Smith sent their love to the trans community Sam Smith penned a message of support to the trans community and shared their thoughts with their social media followers on Wednesday. The 31-year-old non-binary singer took to their Instagram Stories to post a typed out note that urged trans people to know they were ‘not alone’. They uploaded the text against a black background and said: ‘To all trans/non binary and gender non conformoing people in the UK right now….. ‘You are not alone.
Should changes be made to the guidelines, trans people would be given their own designated rooms and areas in hospitals. The health secretary further explained that he wanted to make sure the ‘dignity, safety and privacy’ of all patients was respected, as well as taking extra care to protect the rights of women. In light of the proposed changes, Cleo Madeleine – a spokesperson for the Gendered Intelligence charity – shared: ‘It’s disappointing.
