Samsung launched its latest Galaxy S25 series, featuring three models: the S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. The phones boast slimmer designs, lighter weights, and powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processors. Samsung also expanded its AI capabilities with the pre-installed One UI 7 and Google's Gemini virtual assistant.
Samsung unveiled its highly anticipated new Galaxy S25 smartphones at the Unpacked event on Wednesday. As expected, there are three phones: the Samsung Galaxy S25, Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The more affordable Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus come in Navy, Icyblue, Mint, and Silver Shadow color options. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the other hand, is available in Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Silverblue, and Titanium Whitesilver.
Samsung's online store will also offer its own special editions. The phone launches were not a major surprise, as rumors had hinted at them for some time. However, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim remains unseen for now. The technical specifications are, as expected, in line with the rumors. The Galaxy S25 phones have been slightly slimmed down compared to their predecessors, and the weight of all three models has been reduced. The base model is 6 grams lighter, the S25 Plus 7 grams, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra a full 15 grams. The screens of the base models remain at 6.2 and 6.7 inches. In contrast, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has grown from 6.8 to 6.9 inches. The Ultra uses titanium as its material, while the other models have aluminum bodies. As expected, all phones feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor. This is a version specifically created for Samsung, based on the same Snapdragon 8 Elite system-on-a-chip found in other flagship devices. The processor is said to offer up to 37% faster CPU performance, up to 30% faster graphics processing, and up to 40% faster NPU (neural processing unit) performance compared to the previous generation. Samsung's own AI functionality, along with Google-created features, expands further. The lineup includes the pre-installed One UI 7 operating system and Google's Gemini virtual assistant. They also include familiar AI features such as Circle to Search, real-time translation, and voice recordings to text. Samsung offers a half-year subscription to Google One AI Premium for phone buyers, which unlocks 2 terabytes of cloud storage and Google Gemini Advanced. The Galaxy S25 Ultra's ultrawide camera has been upgraded from 12 megapixels to a 50-megapixel resolution. Otherwise, it features the familiar 200-megapixel main camera, a 10-megapixel 3x optical zoom telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel 5x optical zoom telephoto camera. Both the main camera and telephoto cameras feature optical image stabilization.
