Personal finance website GOBankingRates ranked the best retirement destinations and found retiring in San Antonio can cost less than $50,000 a year.

If you’re thinking of relocating for retirement, you might want to hold off on packing your bags. According to a new study, San Antonio is one of the best, most affordable cities to live out your golden years. There are a variety of attractive retirement destinations across Texas , but personal finance website GOBankingRates says the Alamo City offers the most bang for your buck.

The city’s average monthly mortgage payment is $1,572, according to the study.

Jim's Restaurants owner weighs in on San Antonio chain's future GOBankingRates identified the most ideal cities to retire by analyzing U.S. census data and examining economic factors including total population, average home value, average Social Security benefits and livability indexes.
