San Antonio police have arrested a 20-year-old man accused of shooting and critically injuring a teenage girl on the West Side in late February. Zakar Andrew Kimani Polk was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The shooting happened around 10 p.m. on Feb. 22. A mother and her 15-year-old daughter were driving through the 9900 block of West Military Drive when a man pulled out a gun and started shooting at their car, according to a preliminary police report.

The mother drove her to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition, police said. The shooter was one of several men standing on the sidewalk. They fled the scene after the shooting. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Polk on Friday, and he was taken into custody without incident.
