The 'CBS Evening News' managing editor, a former MacArthur High School Brahmas head cheerleader in Texas, is moving to a senior correspondent role.

'CBS Evening News' anchor and managing editor Norah O'Donnell — who graduated from San Antonio 's MacArthur High School — will leave her seat for a senior correspondent role within the company after the presidential election. 'I have spent 12 years in the anchor chair here at CBS News, connected to a daily broadcast and the rigors of a relentless news cycle,' she said in a Tuesday memo to her colleagues. Her time anchoring includes the past five years in her current role.

She attended Saint Mary's Hall, Garner Middle School and MacArthur High School. There, she ran track and became the Brahmas' varsity head cheerleader. 'I look back at high school in San Antonio as being one of the great times in my life,' O'Donnell said in a 2013 interview with the Express-News. 'Big football games on Friday nights; track meets on Saturdays,' she added. 'I'm still very close with my eight girlfriends from elementary through high school.
