The fire broke out on Monday night, forcing the restaurant to shutter until further notice. No one was hurt.
A beloved restaurant in Pleasanton is 'devastated' after sustaining extensive damage in a fire early this week. The blaze broke out around 11:15 p.m. Monday, causing the cafe to shut down until further notice, it announced on social media. Photos taken after the flames died down show insulation, ceiling tiles and other debris scattered around the dining area, but staff were unharmed. 'We are all safe and we are thankful for that,' the restaurant said.
Cafe Chris owner Mary Rodriguez has been serving up traditional fare for over 30 years, earning dedicated customers with soup, sandwiches and a famous chicken salad recipe, according to the Pleasanton Express. The cafe's status as a local mainstay was confirmed by hundreds of messages of support left on its Facebook page after the fire announcement. 'You are all so loved by this community,' Jessi David Brymer said on Facebook.
