Throughout its April restaurant inspections, the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District dished out plenty of grades of 100-out-of-100, but other establishments didn't fare so well. Inspectors found pest problems — like feces near a condiment stand — and more. The Express-News looked at establishments that fell short of an 'A' grade, which is 90 points or more. Here are the ones that received a score of 80 or below.
Santos Mexican Cafe Santos Mexican Cafe scored a 79, the second-lowest score in April. A city inspector gave the restaurant multiple violations for cross-contamination risks, including raw chicken stored above chorizo in a walk-in cooler, according to the April 18 inspection report. In addition, the inspector found uncovered food and food without expiration date labels.
