The San Antonio Juniors Volleyball Club won the AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships on Monday.
In a pool of 162 teams at the Amateur Athletic Union Junior National Volleyball Championships, the San Antonio Juniors 16 Adidas came out on top. The 16-and-under team defeated Team Kiwi from Tampa , Florida , in two sets on Monday to win the tournament’s championship. The Juniors went 14-0 in the tournament and only lost two sets. “So they've progressed into each month,” San Antonio Juniors Volleyball Club owner Albert Trevino said.
“I think for them, they had so much emotion going through the whole tournament,” Trevino said. “So it's a long season, so you prepare yourself, and you never know when teams are going to peak because many of these club teams get new kids almost every year. So you have to re-identify what type of style you'll have as far as the coaches and the kids.” Pieper’s Eva Planchet was named the MVP, and Clark’s Lillian Carollo was named on the All-Tournament team.
