A woman miraculously escaped a major tornado north of Denton unharmed while on a road trip to Oklahoma. One San Antonio woman said she has no clue how she escaped a tornado in North Texas last week, unharmed. The tornado killed seven people and injured hundreds more.

With tears in her eyes, Elois Slone relived what she said was one of the most frightening days of her life. She was traveling to Thackerville Oklahoma from Cross Roads Texas with her best friend when they both started getting tornado warning alerts on their phones. Seeking shelter, Slone said they pulled into a travel center on I-35 more than 300 miles north of San Antonio and just north of Denton.

“All the other windows had shattered and during that whole period, her airbag came up and stuff was flying from the building, toward us,” said Slone.
