Residents in Mission Valley, San Diego, have been warned to keep their distance as a severe fire wreaks havoc, with emergency crews working tirelessly to extinguish the inferno.
Reports from the locale indicate that a hillside brush fire near Avenida De Las Tiendas has necessitated some evacuations nearby. A substantial contingent of firefighters is combatting the blaze, bolstered by airborne assistance to halt its advance. Plumes of smoke are visible rising from the hill, and evacuation commands are in effect for households adjacent to the conflagration. San Diego Fire-Rescue teams were on site promptly within six minutes.
Meanwhile, local shops have had to close down, and the public is advised to steer clear of the area. An official evacuation notice from San Diego County reads: "The San Diego Fire Department is at the scene of a vegetation fire near Friars Rd and Via de la Moda in Mission Valley. The San Diego Police Department has issued Evacuation Orders and Warnings for nearby areas. The fire is currently at 1.5 acres and is threatening structures.
Subsequently, widespread power outages have been reported, impacting roughly 3,000 residents since around 12:30 p. m local time.
