San Diego Wave acquire French forward Delphine Cascarino, sign her to multi-year deal

Delphine Cascarino will join the slumping Wave after she returns from this summer’s Olympics in Paris

The San Diego Wave need to get hot following this summer’s Olympic break in order to make the National Women’s Soccer League playoffs.San Diego acquired French forward Delphine Cascarino from Olympique Lyonnais and signed her to a three-year contract extension with a club option for 2027, the team announced Wednesday. The 27-year-old Cascarino’s deal is pending the completion of her P-1 visa and international transfer certificate.

Cascarino is “a world-class player in the prime of her career,” said Camille Ashton, the Wave’s newly hired general manager. “We are thrilled to welcome Delphine to San Diego. She joins us at a pivotal time and will make an immediate impact for us on the pitch.” Despite acquiring forward María Sánchez from Houston earlier this season, the Wave have struggled mightily on the attack.
