Over 400 senior citizens in San Juan City received cash gifts from the city government on Tuesday, Nov. 22, as they were recognized for their invaluable contributions to the country’s development.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora together with other city government officials led the event held at the City Hall Atrium.
“Ito po ay aming pasasalamat sa inyo dahil kayo po ay kinokonsidera kong aming gabay, nirerespeto namin kayo, at napakahalaga sa ating komunidad, sa ating lungsod. Nakikita natin ang tuwa ng ating mga senior citizens ngayon at hinabol talaga namin ang inyong birthday ngayong taon ,” Zamora said. The city government explained that the cash gifts are in accordance with City Ordinance No. 81, series of 2022, or the Ordinance Further Extending Financial Benefits to Senior Citizens Who Have Reached the Ages of 70, 80, and 90 Years of Age and Providing Funds for the Purpose.
Meanwhile, Zamora stressed that the city continues to create programs for the benefit of its senior citizens such as the ongoing construction of a senior citizens’ center for their recreation purposes.
