A great place to catch catfish from shore, the old Sandusky Bay Bridge sections in Danbury Township and Bay View have been a magnet for catfish buffs.

Sandusky Bay anglers are already catching surprisingly large channel cat-fish this spring, with Gary Bibee of Arlington Heights boating a 37-incher recently aboard Angry Floater Charters.CLEVELAND, Ohio — Sandusky Bay and Lake Erie have been living up to their reputations as two of the finest fishing areas in the country.

Right behind were Ohio tournament veterans Scott Geitgey of Canton and Jay Gullett of Willard, who finished second with 10 walleye weighing 78 pounds, 2 ounces. There is no daily bag limit for channel catfish in the Buckeye State, but there is a length limit. All channel channel catfish that top the 28-inch mark must be released, and plenty of those hefty cats are caught around Sandusky Bay.

A big surprise has been the number of big smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and bluegills being caught.
