A man wanted on a parole violation and several outstanding felony warrants was shot and killed by police after he allegedly fired at officers at an East Side home, San Antonio police said. The shooting happened Tuesday evening in the 400 block of Morningview Drive . San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said police received a tip about the location of a 52-year-old man who was wanted on a parole violation and three outstanding felony warrants.
Bexar County inmates moved to neighboring counties as jail nears maximum capacity 'SWAT went down understanding that this individual was probably dangerous based on previous statements he made,' McManus said during a news conference Tuesday. 'They called him out to surrender and instead of doing that, he came out shooting.' The man fired four to five rounds with a handgun and struck two SWAT vehicles, McManus said. The man was struck after two officers returned fire.
