Vice President Sara Duterte urged local chief executives to steer clear of the appointment process of public schools teachers in their respective municipalities and respect the ranking system of educators.
Duterte, who concurrently sits as Department of Education Secretary, issued the appeal as she recognized the role of the town mayors in shaping an “inclusive and resilient growth” during the 2023 League of Municipalities of the Philippines General Assembly.
The vice president said the administration has committed to increase investments in education in the next six years. She enjoined mayors to convene their respective local school boards to evaluate the needs of local schools.
Duterte also asked the local executives to support schools in “geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas” and determine how the special education fund can help augment the needs of the educations institutions.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
