A postmortem report found “multiple and extensive injuries, sustained over an extended period of time,” including at least 25 broken bones, iron burns on her bottom and a traumatic brain injury. Before Sara died, Sharif had hit her with a cricket bat and iron bar, throttled her, and thrown a mobile phone at her head.
The defendants returned to the UK on 13 September 2023 – leaving the children behind – and were detained within minutes of a flight touching down at Gatwick airport. From birth, Sara was the subject of a child protection plan as her father had been accused of attacking three women, including her biological mother, as well as hitting and biting children.Sara Sharif’s father Urfan Sharif, 42, and stepmother Beinash Batool, 30, have been found guilty at the Old Bailey of the 10-year-old’s murder. Her uncle Faisal Malik, 29, was found guilty of causing or allowing her death.
There were three sets of family court proceedings, but allegations that Sharif was physically abusing Sara and her siblings were never tested in court.Sara Sharif when she was 4 years old.
