BBC Radio Nottingham presenter Sarah Julian, who joined the national broadcaster in 1997, hosted her last show on Friday, April 19
BBC Radio Nottingham's Sarah Julian has announced who will be replacing her on the city's breakfast show. The BBC presenter, who joined the national broadcaster in 1997, hosted her last show on Friday, April 19.
"I'm moving on, for a year, and Verity will be in charge - you'll have a great time," she told listeners. "I've had many lovely messages, this one is from Catherine who says 'you've been a friend over the years', do you know that is how it has felt.
When Sarah announced her exit on air on Tuesday, April 16, listeners were quick to express their support and best wishes. One of the messages was from Labour Nottingham South MP, Lilian Greenwood. She said: "Very best of luck in your new job. You’ll be much missed in Nottingham but our loss is the West Midlands' gain!"
"You are the best of local broadcasting and Notts will miss you." Another listener, Amanda Needham, said: "Hearing you say it makes it more real, really, really hope you do come back.It comes amid a BBC shake-up to services. Under the changes, some familiar hosts have been taking on new shows and areas, with the breakfast, mid-morning, and sports programmes remaining largely the same for each radio station.
