Two women who played vital roles in preserving the legacy of a historic Glasgow building have been made MBEs in the New Year Honours list.

Celia Sinclair Thornqvist and Professor Pamela Robertson were awarded the rank for their involvement in a £10million restoration project to save one of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's tea rooms in the heart of the city centre.

The Sauchiehall Street building, now trading as Mackintosh at the Willow, was designed by the celebrated Glasgow architect over a century ago and is his last surviving tea room. Pictured: King Charles III with Celia Sinclair Thornqvist, founder and chair of The Willow Tea Rooms TrustMs Thornqvist, founder and patron of The Willow Tea Rooms Trust, said she was"deeply honoured" to be recognised for her part in the project but added that everyone involved in bringing the tea rooms building back to life"deserves thanks and congratulations".

Originally opened in 1903, the now King and Queen Consort re-opened the A-listed building in 2018 following a stunning restoration.Now, as well as operating as Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his patron Catherine Cranston originally intended, the tea room hosts a shop,
