THE Supreme Court yesterday confirmed that Wilfredo “Willie” Gonzales, the dismissed police officer who figured in a road rage incident that recently went viral on the internet, was fired from the judiciary three days ago.
Gonzales earlier refused to answer queries about his employment although unconfirmed reports said he was connected with the Department of Justice . The road rage incident prompted PBGen Nicolas Torre III to step down as chief of the Quezon City Police District after being heavily criticized by the public for holding a press conference with Gonzales.
Based on reports, Gonzales retired from the police force in July 2016 but was issued a dismissal order in 2017 for grave misconduct case filed in 2006. Aside from losing his employment in the SC, Gonzales’ license to own and possess firearms and permit to carry firearms outside of residence have already been revoked by the Philippine National Police.
