A Brook Park man lost $3,260 through a phone scam.
Published: Aug. 03, 2024, 8:30 p.m.BROOK PARK, Ohio – A Cambridge Court man lost $3,260 through a phone scam.
The caller told the man that to claim his prizes, he would have to pay a delivery fee. The man, as instructed, bought $3,260 in Apple gift cards and provided the caller the card numbers. Shortly afterward, the man received a text message from someone pretending to be Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook. The text included a photo of the real Zuckerberg.
The texter then sent images of the man’s driver’s license, Social Security card and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs card.
