The Washington County School District has confirmed that a Pine View High School employee has resigned after sharing photos of students in an August football ga

Several parents were update that two students showed up to a “blackout” high school football game in St. George with black face paint. A parent who spoke with KUTV said the students were even awarded a prize for best school spirit, and took a photo with the cheerleaders.

A few days following the incident, the principal of Pine View High School, Mike Mees, sent an email to the community. It in-part read: Since the incident occurred, Wright had a meeting at the school with administrators, the students who wore the face paint, and their parents. When photos of the students began circulating online, there was mixed reactions. Some commenters called this a clear act of blackface, while others said it was a display of school spirit for the “blackout” theme.“Ignorance is not an excuse. Period. Ignorance does not get you out of a situation,” said Wright.
