Emergency workers rushed to the scene

The incident took place at around 2.41pm on Tuesday . Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were sent to the scene as 15 members attended.

"The boy was treated on scene then transferred to the helicopter and flown down to Gatesgarth in the Buttermere Valley to rendezvous with a land ambulance for onward transport to West Cumbria Infirmary with his mum." The spokesperson added: "A female walker slipped and injured her ankle on the slopes of Green Gable above Gillercomb Head. Being unable to weight-bear the party called for Mountain Rescue assistance. The team’s very capable vehicles are able to drive up the mine track towards Dubs Hut thus saving a lot of leg work.
