Abuzr Mirza was visiting Lake Windermere when tragedy struck
A father has spoken of his heartbreak after his "diamond" son drowned on an end-of-year school trip to the Lake District .
The Health and Safety Executive, which looks into the possible culpability of businesses in deaths and injuries, and Cumbria Police have both launched an investigation. An inquest into the death of Abuzr, from Burnley, Lancashire, is due to open at Cumbria Coroners Court on August 13, Lancs Live reports.In a heartbreaking post on Facebook, Abuzr's father, Osman Beg, described his son as a "diamond".
He added: "Final words please keep your children close and always support them in what they want to do." Abuzr's funeral took place at the Masjid Farooq E Azam in Burnley and he was buried at Burnley Cemetery. He was a student at Dawatul Imaan Darul Uloom in Bradford and a spokesperson for the school told the Telegraph and Argus: "This tragic event has had a profound effect on our whole school community. Everyone at the school is heartbroken.
