Leading charity The Autistic Society says autistic children can't learn properly if they feel their clothes are too tight or itchy
The National Autistic Society said autistic children can experience discomfort and anxiety from wearing school uniform.
'This can be extremely overwhelming and lead to children being unable to focus at school due to sensory overload.' 'It's vital that autistic children, and all children who experience sensory sensitivity, receive the right help and support to be able to thrive at school.'One mum, who does not wish to be named, who has an autistic daughter in Year 8 at secondary school is backing the campaigners.
'She can't stand the material of trousers on her skin, so she wears leggings but school have forced her to get changed.'We're in talks with the school who are so far refusing to budge and she's ow refusing to go in.
