The Perth Scorchers have won their fifth Big Bash title in front of a record 53,886 fans at Optus Stadium, chasing down the Brisbane Heat’s total in the final over of the match. 9News

Sam Heazlett and Nathan McSweeney combined for a strong second wicket partnership, the pair both falling short of half-centuries on 34 and 41 respectively.

His dismissal and Michael Neser's golden duck had the Heat in trouble at 6/159, eventually crawling across the line to 7/175. A lengthy partnership from Josh Inglis and captain Ashton Turner developed - putting on 80 runs between them. What followed was a scintillating knock from 19-year-old Cooper Connelly, who smashed 25 runs from 11 balls alongside Nick Hobson who made 18 from just seven deliveries.

At the start of the over they needed 38 from 18 and with two remaining needed just 20 from 12 deliveries.
